On a fall day that was cold and gloomy outside all was warm and friendly inside as President Lynn Grim called on Tom Healy to lead us in the pledge. Tom also reminded the members that November the 11th, is Armistice Day. The American Legion will conduct a memorial at 11AM near the Post Office on Greenwich Avenue. Let’s try to attend to respect our fallen comrades and all who have served our country. Tom Healy accompanied by Jim Santora on the ivories led us through a rousing rendition of, The Star-Spangled Banner, Mary, and Suwannee. The members were in good voice today. RecSec. Bill Dynan gave a thoughtful and thorough review of last weeks meeting. He makes them appear interesting. CorrSec. Ben Bacon read a letter from the Masons thanking us for our contribution in Warren Dennison’s name to their organization then read a postcard from Al Hartig, followed by a touching story of a man who truly loved “Show Business”. Treasurer Herb Egli read a brief report on the RMA financial status - all is well, report on BB. Linn Grim wanted everyone to be sure that in view of the luncheon/dinner there would not be a meeting at the Y next week.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Carl Van Aken reminded all that the Investment Club Meeting at 12 noon today would feature an important talk by Claude Bentley of American Express Advisors on, How to save/minimize income taxes and avoid estate taxes. Bob Church 1st Vice president and Chairman of this years luncheon at Greenwich C. C. advised all who had not paid, given their meal choices or been assigned a table to do so Today! See Cliff Woods. DIRECTIONS: Turn off E. Putnam to Maple Ave. this turns into North St. The first right turn after the traffic light is Doubling Road, follow signs to Greenwich Country Club. Drop off passengers at circle, park down below, walk or ride jitneys to club. All are urged to Carpool. Ron Klingner Reported that the four week course, “Eat Well- Live Well” sponsored by Greenwich Health and held at the Cos Cob Library was run by a licensed nutritionist and was really worth while. It covered many aspects of nutrition, healthy foods, how to shop and read labels, great for dieters, diabetes concerns, etc. New classes will start in spring. Bill Lehren made two important announcements- “The Angel Tree” needs volunteers to sign up for specific times to attend tree and also for delivery- sign up list on board. Bob Phillips has agreed to be in charge. The Salvation Army needs bell ringers - sign up on board or see Frank Lee. Tim Nolan advises that the next ROMEO luncheon will be December 10, 2003 at the Field Club on Lake Ave. Save that Date! Details to follow. Gene Schwartz and the Computer Club invites all interested in working with digital photos and your computer to join him and Charlie Stone, instructor at the Senior Center, for a presentation on Thursday, November 20th. at 11AM. Subjects covered include: using your computer to transfer, store, organize and access digital photos, and to view, edit, print and develop slide shows. If there are any other computer subjects you are interested in speak to Phil Hahn or Gene Schwartz.

VISITING: Chuck Standard Relates that Charlie Sweatt has had successful surgery and is on the road to recovery. John Phillips was in the hospital briefly but is now home. Bryan Cooke will undergo an operation today- we wish you all the best and get back soon. PROGRAM: Sam Marrasso announced that Dom DiMaio would present the final installment of the WWII videos. TODAY’S PROGRAM: When Dom DiMaio introduced today’s WWII videos he said that he had saved the best for last and he may have been right. There were four stories by Jim Starkweather, Chuck Standard, Bob Rosenberg, and Al Munkenbeck. Each was told in a clear voice, well prepared, very simply and straight forward. Each held our interest throughout and will make a great impression on future generations who are able to view these tapes and all the others. As Mrs. Sharon Wilkens Conrad, Curator of History at Greenwich Library, said, “These tales represent living history”.
