CIGAR BOX BULLETIN
Volume 50 No. 42 March 19, 2003
On a date we hope will not go down in history, March 19, President Bill Lehren promptly opened the meeting for a smaller than usual attendance. The weather clear and not too cold could not have deterred many from coming to the Y; so perhaps they were watching the news on TV. Harry Leigh led the pledge after which Pres. Lehren announced that there would be a ”Support the Armed Forces” Rally on Saturday, March 23 at 2:00 PM on Greenwich Avenue at the Post Office. Â Everyone is encouraged to attend. Jim Smeriglio led the singing of three patriotic songs The Star Spangled Banner, It's A Grand Old Flag and God Bless America with Bob Alden at the keyboard.
RecSec Peter Schieferdecker, as usual gave his (mis)interpretation of the goings on at last week's meeting and then substitute CorrSec Ben Bacon had only two atypical RMA cards to display, but he told a story about a drunk who was taken home from a bar without his necessary equipment. Ben also reminded all that Lady Windermere's Fan would be presented at the First Congregational Church starting this Friday night and again on the next two weekends.

In his talk, “Coping With Change”, he spoke of the importance of keeping an open mind, why we should listen to bad ideas, that we can learn from anybody and open mind is a balanced mind! It was very entertaining and his talk was topped off by a raffle of ten copies of his book, Provoking Thought. (Lucky me, I won one!)
